BlackFin Capital Partners is a fully independent firm, run by its four founding partners. Laurent Bouyoux, Eric May, Bruno Rostain and Paul Mizrahi have worked together as managers and entrepreneurs in the financial industry for decades. Altogether the team consists of 20 experienced professionals from different European nationalities.
The firm’s strategy focuses on businesses in the financial services sector, with potential for growth via organic or acquisitions, across continental Europe. Businesses of interest to BlackFin include asset management, institutional and retail brokerage, distribution of insurance and banking products, payments, debt management and collection, fund administration, business process outsourcing, financial technology providers and software editors, fintechs.
BlackFin operates as an influential investor through majority or minority shareholder alongside founders, managers or institutional investors, and supports the management teams in taking their businesses to the next level. The BlackFin team has substantially contributed to develop its portfolio companies by supporting them in growing organically, improving operating margins and also through an active buy and build strategy. Transactions have so far been completed in France, Germany, Italy, the Benelux and Switzerland, from its four offices in Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
The firm manages two growth / buyout funds: Fund I (€220m raised in 2011) and Fund II (€400m raised in 2016), and a venture fund dedicated to fintechs, insuretechs, regtechs (€180m raised in 2018), backed by a solid base of international institutional investors.
BlackFin has adopted a responsible investor approach (ESG) in its investment process and the monitoring of its investments. As proof of this commitment, BlackFin is a signatory of the UN-PRI (United Nation Principles for Responsible Investment).
